Athens, May 4, 2022 – The award-winning sports tourism event Navarin Challenge celebrates tenand year by unite people of all ages and abilities across sports. Amateur and professional athletes from Greece and abroad will visit Costa Navarino and Pylos, Messenia, on October 21-23, 2022.
Follow in the footsteps of Telemachus
Navarino Challenge participants have the opportunity to race in one of the best Half Marathons 21.1 km in Greece, with the Greek-American ultramarathon runner Konstantinos Dean Karnazes, and cross the beautiful Voidokilia beach while tracing history under their feet The land of King Nestor. They will follow the trail traced in Homeric times by Telemachus, Odysseus son, trying to find his missing father. Additionally, they can choose between 10km course or pleasure 5km course, which can even be supplemented by dynamic walking. The same day, the 1km children’s course will take place in two groups, for children 10-14 years old and kids up to 9 years old.
Runners can act quickly and take advantage of the pre-registration offerswhich are valid until July 31, offering discounts greater than 50% on registrations. The children’s race takes place with free participation. Sea Kayaking in Pylos Bay
From the Restaurant Poseidonia known for its traditional Greek cuisine and local specialties in the port of Pylos, on Saturday October 22, a sea kayaking trip around the island of Sphacteria will take place, with the support of Explore Messinia. Take part in the beach volleyball tournament overlooking the Ionian Sea
Overlooking sand dunes and the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea, Dunes Beach in Navarino Dunes, Costa Navarino, will host the Navarino Challenge King of the Court Beach Volleyball Tournament. The Olympic sport of beach volleyball returns with former Greek international volleyball player and record holder for appearances with the Greek national team, Michalis Triantafyldis, as its ambassador. On Saturday October 22, the tournament will include separate categories for men and women, while on Sunday, October 23, the tournament will be mixed. Tennis at the Mouratoglou Tennis Center Costa Navarino
Navarino Challenge participants will have the opportunity to attend tennis clinics for kids 6-9 years old and 10-13 years old as well as to participate in Round Robbin tennis tournaments for men and women, which will take place with the support of Mouratoglou Costa Navarino Tennis Center under the guidance of elite coaches. Costa Navarino is the first European location for a Mouratoglou Tennis Center, while the brand new state-of-the-art facilities include a total of 16 tennis courts at Navarino Dunes with stunning views of the Ionian Sea.
