City of Akron Recreation & Parks Summer Schedule Announced

GREATER AKRON — The City of Akron Recreation and Parks Division’s summer programming offers a variety of activities this summer for residents of all ages.
Presentations include free and low-cost options across the city. Offers include:
• Fitness in the Parks, starting in June with free Tai Chi Easy, Pilates and Yoga classes at various locations and led by Recreation & Parks instructors;
• Free swimming at outdoor pools from June 6 to August 20, including Perkins Park, 899 Diagonal Road and Reservoir Park, 1735 Hillside Terrace. Visitors must register for a free Open Swim Membership. The swimming pools are open Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Recreational cycling outings every first Friday of the month from July to October from 6.30 pm. These rides are aimed at beginners and experienced cyclists, with varied departures and routes;
• Taste of Akron, a culinary event where visitors to Hardesty Park can sample dishes from a variety of local restaurants and food trucks on July 21;
• Akron Arts Expo, July 23-24 at Hardesty Park featuring over 100 jurors from across the country;
• Concerts in the Parks, offering free concerts in various city parks from June 6 to August 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. Cancellations due to bad weather will be posted on the parks Facebook page and website. For a list of locations where the concerts will be held, visit the division’s website.
